Hazard, Glazer and Rooney

Hazard has chosen Chelsea but it’s quite hard to understand why a player would join a club that has no manager, the player does not fully know what he is getting into, he has no idea how the team are going to play or what position he is going to be played in. Hazard was rumoured to be looking for assurances of playing in his favoured Attacking Midfielder role and that he will play the majority of games. With Juan Mata at Chelsea i’m not 100% sure he will get that and if he does, how will Mata feel. I’m also not sure how these assurances could have been given to him without a manager at Chelsea.

Which begs the question, has he been swayed by money? Probably, but while many United fans will call him a money grabbing so and so, why shouldn’t he take the money. We, as United fans have an arrogance that all players should join our club for less money because this is Manchester United, the biggest club in the world. But given we’re the biggest club in the world, the question must be asked… “Why can’t we give Hazard the money he wants?”. Answer: Malcolm Glazer and his fellow cronies. We continue to miss out on the best players around because these people continue to piss money down the drain instead of spending it on the pitch and on other things like improving club facilities. I don’t think enough fans realise that if it weren’t for the debt the Glazers have piled on us, we’d be able to afford Hazard’s wage demands easily, it just wouldn’t be a problem. We’d probably be able to throw another load of cash at another player and we’d also be able to keep our own players happy. I don’t agree with the amount of money being thrown around in football but that’s the way things are.

We all had a go at Rooney, when he wanted to leave because the club were showing a “lack of ambition”, but ultimately he had a point, what he did was just done in the wrong way. What happened during that week probably wouldn’t have happened if it weren’t for the debt the Glazers have heaped on the club.

Missing out on Hazard is a minor problem, the debt is a bigger problem. There are other players we can get and as we’ve seen in the past when we’ve missed out on players we’ve got someone else in, when we missed out on Ronaldinho in 2003, we got Cristiano Ronaldo in. Yet again, there will be other targets, whether we get them is another question.
